BRW's latest Young Rich List shows the under-40s have ridden out the global crisis better than most.The combined riches on the list slipped just 4.5 per cent from last year, to $5.8 billion. Victoria was the No. 1 state for the young and rich, with 28 names on the list, up three on last year, compared with 25 from NSW, down five.Adelaide property developer Ross Makris came in top with an estimated $420 million, overtaking mining entrepreneur and horse racing investor Nathan Tinkler, whose $366 million put him in third. Second was hedge fund manager Greg Coffey, worth $390 million.Cotton On owner Tania Austin, from Geelong, was the richest young woman, with the $156 million fortune she shares with husband Nigel.Actor Cate Blanchett was second, with $53 million. Sarah-Jane Clarke and Heidi Middleton, of jeans label Sass & Bide, took fourth spot with a combined $36 million.
